This backgrounder, prepared by Raj Deol, explores how caste-based discrimination and the climate crisis have compounding effects on vulnerable people. Caste-based discrimination pushes people into economic and social precarity, which makes them more likely to be hit hard by climate disasters, like heatwaves, floods and sea level rise.
